Harbor Freight's 8" Portable Ventilator from Chicago Electric.

http://www.harborfreight.com/8-inch-portable-ventilator-97762.html

This is rated from 1400 to 1574 CFM.

Could I use this as a blower between the tophat Thien design (on a drum barrel) and the Farr 9L300NANO cartridge filters?

Most blowers look like a snail but what about an in-line blower? With a blower between the tophat Thien design and the cartridge filters, it would be blowing air since all the dust (theoretically) should be in the drum barrel. If anything gets through, it will be particulate dust that will be captured by the Farr 9L300NANO cartridge filters.

Thanks in advance for your insight and feedback,
Michael

It won't work, for the same reason a furnace squirrel cage blower won't work, i.e. no S.P.  So, simply put, it will blow, but it won't suck!

Look at the amp rating on this blower, then compare it to any decent DC or even a shop vac.

Thanks for the response. That makes sense. I should look for a good primer on understanding engine specs.
