dust collector internal baffle

is this how collected saw dust should behave when there is a properly fabricated and installed thien baffle in a single stage dust collector's drum ring?:

i'm asking because while my frying pan drum ring baffle does reduce the rotation of saw dust in the collection bag, it doesn't just lazily fall into the bag like it does in this video.  i'm just looking for a standard to work towards in optimizing the performance of the system i've got. here's how my frying pan baffle in drum ring currently performs:

im not sure  about the first video. the dust looks to be just falling very slowly . i would question if there is anough air speed . is the dust faling out of the air stream and then being pushed off the baffel.


you video shows what i would expect to see. i cant see into the barrel underneth from the side but i can see down throught the seperater slot and see the dust in the barrel spining and stoping at the rest of the dust.

The first video is pretty representative of what I've seen.  Keep in mind, though, that you're looking at the back, that dust has already spun about 200-250 degrees.

But the key is keeping the dust below the baffle settled.  If it spins too much, the finest dust is resuspended, and has a chance to sneak out to the filters.

if i look down through the slot o mine i can see a few planer shavings roling along like tumble weeds. you can really see it when there is a layer of mdf dust on top. i dont see any of the mdf dust moving
