Just thought I would share my version of the HFDC Thien Baffle transformation.   I didn't want to have my motor permanently mounted to a wall right above the barrel, so I decided to attach it right to the metal lid, which worked great.  I plan on venting it outside since there is very little dust that the separator doesn't catch.  Thanks again to Phil for sharing his wonderful idea and to everyone else here who shared their projects which helped me immensely.   If you have any questions or would like further details, please let me know and I will be happy to answer them and share as best I can.   Also, if you have any suggestions as to what I might have done wrong or something I could do to make it more efficient, please let me know.

If you ever cut/turn any greenj wood (Pine, etc.) that makes long curls, it might be worthwhile to cut out the 'bullseye' type of casting. Be sure to smooth over the cut areas just to keep from messing up the air flow even a little bit. Look at your picture #4 to see what I am referring to. Many have had this thing to get jammed and quite rapidly according to the 'war stories' posted on other sites that discuss Mr. Thien's marvelous device. (Thank You, Mr. Thien!)

Thanks for sharing this - it happens to be exactly what I was thinking of doing. Can you tell me the size of the fiber barrel have there (diameter and height) and where you bought it from?

Thanks!
