Hi guys - my first post here but I've followed for a while.

I just finished my first separator and began testing.  It's a non-top-hat version on a HF collector on a 30 gallon Brute can.  After plugging leaks and adjusting the inlet and outlet fittings I'm getting 90%-95% collection in the Brute.  I'd like more but I plan to eventually vent outside so if that is as good as it gets, I can live with it.

I noticed after adjustments that I have no chips or dust at all on the baffle.  It's clean as a whistle.

My questions is - Is the baffle so clean because I have is set up properly, or is it clean because any dust is being pulled into the bag as part of the uncollected amounts?

All help appreciated.

It is clean because you've made the baffle a slick surface, you have good airflow through the separator with few if any dead air spaces, and probably have very little air leakage.  All this is good.

The dust is either in the bag or in the bin.  About the only way to know which is which is to clean the bag, use it a while, and then see how much accumulates in the bag over time as a percentage of what ends up in the bin.

Thanks - guess I'll move past the testing stage and onto actual usage.
