Baffling Baffle question

Hi

I am finally building my top hat after lurking here too long. I appreciate everyone's design inputs - this is easier then I thought it would be. I noticed that most of the designs have a lip between the baffle slot and the side wall. Is that intentional for performance or just part of the build design. This photo is from Pitbull and I am not questioning his design - actually I am using his design for most of my work. Thanks in advance

You do NOT want a lip there.  Any lip there will interfere with separation.
