Thanks again, Phil, works like a charm! :) I filled up this time to the bottom of the slotted baffle with no scrubbing into the plastic bag. The only thing I did notice is that in the drum, the deposits where in a hill, like a snow drift, under the end of the drop slot. Is this normal? Also, I do see cyclonic action in the clear bag (some very fine dust) when the unit is on. Normal? The cloth bag is rated at 1 micron and does have a good layer of dust on the inside of it, I assume that this will help detain some of the even finer stuff. My next upgrades to the unit will be to include some weather seal strips around the perimeter of the two bags to ensure a more airtight seal. When money permits, perhaps a wynn filter. Thanks for looking.

Your results are just about dead on what I would expect... I get the same mounding in the drum, and yes, you are still going to get a whirlwind in your lower bag.

The amount of dust on the upper bag is something to ponder though. My Wynn still looks like the day I got it, but they tend to release dust super easy, so what does get to it, doesn't really stick...

In all the time I have had my Thien cyclones, I have had to wash my shop vac filter twice, and only come up with 1 cup of fine, processed flour sort of dust in the dust collector. Everything else has been in the dust bin...

Thanks guys. Db, what size barrel and setup are you running?

Up until last night. On the HF DC, a 55 gallon plastic barrel with 4" in / out through the lid. I am in the process of modding it for 5" with a side inlet.

The shop vac setup is a 20 gallon steel trash can with 2.5" ports.
