Hey thank You for the info and Email,

You did answer one question about placement of baffle.

If you look at this link http://www.jpthien.com/smf/index.php?topic=227.0   And look at the third picture. there is a metal fitting adapting it to his Grizzly DC, I don't know what size his is but mine is 5"

in the same photo look at the flex pipe going to the impeller from the top of his DC (Green Part) (again I don't know what size his is) I am doing the same but mine is 6". This is what I was asking, if I have a 5" into the DC then it goes thru the Thien setup it would come out of the center to the impeller/motor all of which is 6". Do you think that this would present problem for effiecentcy?

Ok final Question, The flex pipe he has going into the top of the DC, How far into the DC should the pipe go before it hits the Thien Baffle?

     Thank You for you're patience

I'm modifying a JET DC100, I am doing the same conversion as TimmyG. I have all of it done, but I am trying to fugure out how far the outlet pipe from the DC barrel should be inserted to the top plate, The other Question is that the inlet to the DC barrel is 5" and the inlet to the DC impeller is 6". What I'm asking is will the larger dia. make a diffenrence in air speed, I have been unsuccesfull in my iposting on this site. So I am asking for some help??????

Thank You Phil,

First I'd like to say that I am glad to find a place were everybody is friendly and has no problem sharing info about projects.

I have started to make a similar set up as TimmyG, but I'm using a 55 gallon drum under the DC barrel. I have cut most of the    pieces to set everthing in place so it all fits together. I've cut a ring of MDF to fit around the barrel, A second piece will go between the drum and the DC barrel, The third piece will go around the DC Barrel. I did this so it all fits together nicely. I will post some pics as soon as I get it done. I was wondering if someone could let me know how to post pics on here.

I do have one more Question, I am looking for about 4ft of 6" flexable duct (Preferably clear). If someone has some laying around their shop can you please let me know. I am willing to pay for it.

Thanks Again for the info and Hospitality

Hey,
I'm doing the same conversion as TimmyG and I wanted to know far how up in the barrel should mount the baffle. I hope that this project lives up to it's reputation. I'll keep you all updated But I owe all of the credit to TimmyG.

Hi Guys I have been doing alot of research about DC's and I Still have alot to learn but I feel that I have found a setup that would work. Here's what I have, A Jet 1100 Here's the link to the site:

http://www.waltermeier.com/us/manufacturing/en/product_jet.html?node=330&product=718

My other lareger problem is that I don't have much space, The work space of my shop is about 19 x 12. Waht I am curious about is will this setup that is shown above work with a 55 gal. Drum and the Jet 1100 all in conjunction with the Thien Cyclone. I do have a few maore questions about the physical construction of the Thien Cyclone but I will deal with that later.
