I did this so I could remove the filter without the need to remove the bag and separator.

My first one did the same thing. went with a grease drum for the second one and it works grate. it is over half way filled and the only dust that gets to the vacuum is the ultra fine stuff that is about like talcum powder. My hat is off to Phil.

I used a grease drum that I got from a quick lube place. I made the lid and I have to pry it off. I checked the shop vac that I have attached to it the other day and the only thing in it was a fine dust about like talcum power on the filter.
