Thien Cyclone Separator Lid Discussion / 5' fittings
February 05, 2009, 06:52:57 AM
Found some fittings on-line. Before I order, would like an opinion as to
whether they could work. Either 28 or 26 gauge.

5" SIDE TAKEOFF

galvanized taper reducer

AIR-TITE COLLAR TOP TAKEOFF

5" TOP TAKEOFF

5X4 3PC REDUCER

Found these on e-bay, too far away for me.  Might work for the dust separator, especially
with a shop vac.

Thien Cyclone Separator Lid Discussion / Re: confused

Great question. I have the same, but with a 5" hose.
Also, what is the distabce between the lid and baffle, and does it
change depending on the size of dust collector and or trash can.
I want to build one for my shop vac and one for the 50-760.

Thanks

Great pictures.
I noticed you mentioned right depth in one of the photos.
Is there a specific distance between the cover and baffle ?
It seems to be about 5-6".

Thanks

If you transition to rectangular before the entrance it will make the hole a LOT easier to cut with a good fit.

I didn't quite understand what Lew meant by the above.

Another senior moment.
Okay, I'll say it, I don't quite understand what you mean.
Can you explain it a little better, because
I'll be attempting the same thing as soon as I can purchase the parts.

Thanks,
Deb

Sounds like a great plan. Can you post pictures ? I do much better seeing
something as opposed to just reading about it.

Thanks

Thien Cyclone Separator Lid Discussion / Delta 50-760
January 06, 2009, 06:38:07 AM
From what I've read, it sounds like the DC is more efficient if I run 5" hose from the DC, with a 5" to 4" reducer at the machines. Using the y connector at the DC with the 4" ports would probably be more convenient. Would like to know if there would that much of a difference.
I will be using the DC as a portable unit, rolling from machine to machine, probably for some time.
Can I use 5" connections for the separator ?
Anything else someone can add would be appreciated. I'm not much of a mechanic, just like working with wood.
Also. my craigslist has nada regarding fiber drums. Still looking for a reasonable source. ???

Thanks guys,
Deb

Ps. Phil, is there a plan one could purchase ?

I just purchased the Delta 50-760 and will also be trying to make a separator.
If I may ask, what's your source for the fiber drums. ?
What type of 4" hose are you getting ?

I'm very new at this, so there will be probably be a lot more questions.

Thanks
