I'm in the process of making a Thien Lid. I'm reading the plans online but I had a couple of questions.
dbhost advised to use
- 1/4" - 20 threaded rod.
- 1/4" - 20 stop nuts A.K.A. Nylon insert nuts
- 1/4" fender washers.
- 1/4" - 20 standard nuts.
When all 3 spacer rods are installed, adjust the nutsso that the distance is equal, and the elbow barely touches the baffle.
Has anyone tried attaching the spacer rods differently? It appears in someone's photo that they used screws on each end of the spacer rod. If the spacer rods are cut to the length that is needed can't the just be screwed in place. Is there a reason this shouldn't be done?
The other thing I wanted to ask is about using Hot Glue or Silicone to secure the fittings. What about using a multipurpose polyurethane glue like gorilla glue? Would that work too?
Thanks so much
Angela
