Hey, great job!  I like the hold downs on the blue barrel.  Very clever.

What did you make for the inlet to your HF DC?  It looks like an adapter to go from 5" to 6" or bigger.

I made my separator out of a 55 gal barrel so that it would collect the larger pieces prior to entering the impeller on my DC.  I used to get lots of debris collecting on the 5" input of the DC.  It has a stamped piece that looks like a very poor pre-filter for the impeller.

So the question I have is can you remove the adapter you made easily to check for obstructions?  Did your DC have some sort of obstruction in the inlet like mine?

I live in Boise Idaho and we have a farm supply store here called D&B Supply.  The drum was used to transport horseradish (what a smell).

They are selling them for $16.00 with the lid and closer.  Not bad since a 30 gal garbage can is about $30.00.

Thanks,

Yes, I used clear silicone and flat head wood screws.

Thanks.  Yes, I have about 2.5 inches of pipe below the top.

Thank you for such a great idea!  I also used your template for cutting the circles, another great gift!  Thank you so much!

I have the Vac in a small room behind the shop.  I need to clean it up and remove an old drop out box that I built years ago.  Then I will be able to install it and try it out.  I have already installed an 8" vent to the outside and hooked up the collector so it blows directly outside.

Thanks Phil.

You are AWSOME!

I was wondering if you could explain the actual process of cutting a circle.

So once you set the Radius and start the cut I assume the following:

One hand firmly holds onto the Jig and puts slight pressure against the bearing of the cutter.

One hand spins the workpiece slowly into the cutter (counter clockwise).

Is the workpiece stedied by having a fence, block or pin to hold it against while cutting?

I saw some nice 55gal steel drums today.  I was wondering if they are to big?
I have a 2hp Grizzly DC that I will vent outdoors.
I will be using 4" inlet and 5" outlet (4" if I cannot find a 5" fitting) to the DC.

What do you think?
