I built a top hat separator that is 10" tall and 16" in diameter. My baffle opening is 240 degrees and 1.5" wide, I cut the beginning and the end with a hole saw. It works great with my table saw, mitre saw, and sander. I am having wood slivers back up and plug the baffle when I use my planer and lathe. My initial thoughts would be to cur my slot wider, maybe up to 2" but my fear is that wood dust will be sucked up then. Looking for suggestions from the experts as I am just beginning my woodworking experience. Thanks to everyone!
