Title: Where to get...
Post by: bennybmn on April 15, 2009, 11:02:31 AM
Sonotube or barrels?

I'd love to find some 20" sonotube. Or a barrel of similar diameter, that's actually cylindrical, not tapered like a trash can. Anyone? Beuler? Anyone?

For Sonotube, you might check your local area for concrete supply houses. I haven't really looked for online sources, but found a few somewhat near to me in the Los Angeles area.

Tried doing an online search for local places. The Taylor rental place only carries up to 18" sonotube, and 12 foot length!! Yikes.  Not big enough, and WAY too long. But I'll keep lookin! Thanks guys.

They aren't cheap after you figure in shipping etc... But you can get a 30 - 55 gallon barrel on Ebay.

If you have a food processing plant near you, you might be able to get one of the barrels they use.

I have never seen Sonotube, I think that is a brand name for the concrete form tubes for footings... My local Home Depot carries 20", but the wall thickness is VERY thin, you'd be better off with a plastic trash can.
